Wind sensor has no moving parts

Amalgamated Instrument Co has a novel wind speed and direction sensor with no moving parts. The sensor uses a special solid-state device to measure speed and direction based on detected temperature differences on the chip surface as the wind passes over it. Wind speed can be measured from 0 to 25m/s (90km/h) with a threshold of 0.2m/s and an accuracy of +/-3% Wind direction is continuous 0 to 360 degrees with a +/- 3degree accuracy.
