Solar photovoltaic will be the fastest growing source of electricity generation in the U.S. for the next 20 years, according to government date. The use of solar PV to generate power will grow by more than 19 percent per year until 2020, while wind will grow at an annual pace of 3.9 percent, and grid-connected solar thermal will grow at 1.7 percent a year. Conventional hydroelectric dams will remain static for the next 20 years, while geothermal will grow at 2.1 percent each year. MSW will expand at 2.9 percent and biomass will grow at 2.2 percent.
