Development of Renewable Sources of Energy in Northwest Russia: Possibilities and Perspectives

The seminar is free of charge.

The Bellona Foundation is working to increase the share of clean renewable energy in northwest Russia and make it a viable replacement for dangerous nuclear energy and polluting fossil fuels. By stimulating a transition to clean, renewable energy in northwest Russia, we can reduce the risks of nuclear accidents and nuclear waste, decrease CO2 emissions and slow climate change, in the High North.

At this seminar Bellona will take the initiative and establish a Northwest Russia Clean Energy Forum as a platform for cross-border dialogue, cooperation, and problem-solving in the renewable energy sector in northwest Russia. The new forum will be an arena for information exchange, capacity-building, research and innovation, technology and product transfer, as well as investment in renewable energy. The main goals of this first seminar are to disseminate information about the potential for renewable energy on the Kola Peninsula and to remove obstacles (psychological, bureaucratic, economic, technological, and juridical) to implementation of renewable energy in the region.
